FAQs

What happens after I submit a tip?

Whether you submit a tip online or by phone, you will be given a secret number and a password. Since we don’t take names or phone numbers, this number is your only identity and you will need it when you log back into the tip system or call the operator to follow-up on your tip.

What if I remember more information after I submit a tip?

If you want to give more information regarding the crime you reported, all you have to do is call the anonymous tip line and give your secret number or log into the tip system online with your secret number and password. You can add information, upload photos and videos and even see the status of the tip, like if you were approved to receive a cash reward.

How do I get my cash reward?

If your tip results in an arrest, the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors will determine the amount (up to $2,500) that you are eligible for by using a set criteria that all recommended rewards are measured by. Once approved for a reward, we let the bank know your secret number and the amount you are to receive. Then you just go to the bank, give your number and they hand you the cash. No name or ID required!

What do you do with my tip once I submit it?

Whether you submit your tip online or by phone, your tip is reviewed by a member of our local, Crime Stoppers team. That team member will then send your tip to the appropriate police agency.

Is everyone qualified to receive a cash reward?

No. The accused or co-accused individuals of the crime, or the victim of the crime are not eligible for a reward. Additionally, rewards will not be issued to sworn peace officers, law enforcement employees or Crime Stoppers staff, board members or volunteers.

How long do I have to pick up my cash reward?

You have 90 days to pick up your cash reward. Rewards not claimed within 90 days will be returned to the Crime Stoppers’ Reward Fund.
