FAQs
What happens after I submit a tip?
Whether you submit a tip online or by phone, you will be assigned a secret Tip ID and a password. Because we do not collect names or phone numbers, this information is your only form of identification and is required if you log back into the tip system or call the operator to follow up on your tip.
What if I remember more information after I submit a tip?
If you would like to provide additional information about the crime you reported, simply call the anonymous tip line and provide your secret Tip ID, or log into the online tip system using your Tip ID and password. You can add new details, upload photos or videos, and check the status of your tip, including whether you have been approved to receive a cash reward.
How do I get my cash reward?
If your tip leads to an arrest, the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors will determine your reward amount, up to $2,500, based on established criteria used to evaluate all recommended rewards. Once your reward is approved, we notify the bank of your secret Tip ID and the approved amount. You then simply go to the bank, provide your Tip ID, and receive your cash- no name or identification required.
What do you do with my tip once I submit it?
Whether you submit your tip online or by phone, a member of our local Crime Stoppers team will review it and then forward the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Is everyone qualified to receive a cash reward?
No. Individuals who are accused or co-accused of the crime, or the victim of the crime, are not eligible for a reward. Rewards will also not be issued to sworn peace officers, law enforcement employees, Crime Stoppers staff, board members, or volunteers.
How long do I have to pick up my cash reward?
You have 90 days to pick up your cash reward. If a reward is not claimed within 90 days, it will be returned to the Crime Stoppers Reward Fund.
